This genealogical volume, which includes many plates depicting early ancestors from Europe and America, was broken at the spine and the sewing was coming undone. The duct tape had rendered the original spine piece unsalvageable and had extensively damaged some of the pages of the book.
After guarding many of the pages and reinserting the plates, I resewed the book on linen tapes. I also recreated the spine for the quarterbinding, and repaired the frayed corners with Japanese paper and paste.
